Prepare For Your Screening
Fasting
Avoid eating for at least three hours before your examination. Drinking water is okay.
What to Wear
Wear comfortable clothes that allow access to the right side of your rib cage.
Exam Time
Typically, 10 – 15 minutes. Plan for about 30 – 45 minutes at the clinic.
What to Expect
During the Exam
You will be asked to lie on your back with your right arm raised and your abdominal area exposed. Gel will be applied, and the probe will be placed on your skin between your ribs.
After the Exam
A member of our care team will review the results with you. You may eat and drink as usual and continue your daily activities immediately. There is no down time or recovery period needed after a FibroScan®.
Exam Safety
FibroScan® exams are very safe for diagnosing those that have or are at risk of developing liver disease. Please inform our care team of any implanted medical devices you currently have.
